Timber framing continued.

After yesterday’s incredible day it was time to start raising the second floor. Pat recruited me to help him sheath the walkout basement. Was a great learning experience to work side by side with Pat all day. Of course it was 90 degrees and sunny all day. Not used to working in the heat anymore but was a great experience and very cool to have a part in a significant piece of the house.

As we worked on the sheathing the timbers continued to fly overhead as the house continued to raise up.  Once again the incredible craftsman was on display. Watching the 40’ long bottom plate drop right onto the top of 4 posts all at once was impressive.

At the end of the day with the second floor frame installed and temporary sheathing down for a floor I was treated to an incredible experience.

After all of the stress of planning, the doubts about should we be doing this and all of that went away an instant when I climbed to the second floor for the first time . I was standing in a timber frame that I will get to share with the love of my life ,up in the trees where the only noise was the wind whistling through the pines. It was a moment for me that no words will do justice to describe. Another moment I willnever forget.

To cap off another amazing day we had a professional photographer come to take pictures of our beautiful timber frame. We were lucky to get connected with an amazing localPhotographer with an impressive resume. Can’t wait to see what he captured  for us
